Webster Works Worldwide: Community Service in Thailand

On Saturday October 6, volunteers from both Webster University Thailand campuses participated in the annual Webster Works Worldwide event. The Webster Works Worldwide is a campus-wide community service day in partnership with local agencies and nonprofit organizations. For this year WUT chose to support Bannongkhuen School, a local school in need which is located in Cha-am.

One of the main aims of this year’s project was to help improve the external infrastructure of the school through activities such as cleaning the grounds, repainting the pathway, and painting the walls.  Upon arrival, the volunteers were divided into teams and assigned a certain task for the day. The volunteers from the Bangkok campuses were also divided into groups and asked to assist the volunteers from Cha-am. The volunteers dedicated their entire day to perform tasks requiring manual labor, creativity and persistence. However, at around 12:30 pm, the volunteers were given a break for lunch which was offered at the Cha-am campus which was a 10-15-minute drive from the location.webster works

The volunteers included 56 students from both campuses and also 13 staff members who dedicated their time and efforts towards helping those in need and making a difference in the
community. Towards the end of the event, the volunteers were offered souvenirs by the administrators of the school as a token of thanks for their kindness and their efforts towards improving the school’s infrastructure. At around 5:30 pm the volunteers left the location content with the result of the day’s efforts which reflected in the brightly colored walls and pathways of
the school. Webster Thailand is proud to participate in Webster Works Worldwide each year.
