Webster’s Rotaract Club Celebrates 46th Annual Children’s Outing

Webster Thailand Rotaract ClubFor more than 40 years, members from the Rotary Club of Bangkapi in Bangkok have joined with needy children and their families from local communities to celebrate the Annual Children’s Outing. Established as a day to give disabled children some laughter and fun, the event also helps to promote the core human values of acceptance, support and giving for all those in attendance.

Webster Thailand RotaractOn Sunday 12 February, Rotarians and Webster Rotaractors traveled together to the beautiful Regent Hotel Beach in Cha Am. Upon arrival volunteers met with students from a local school for the disabled for a series of activities, swimming and socialising. This was followed by a wonderful lunch where everyone had a chance to mingle and get to know each other better.

Webster Thailand Rotaract ClubHeld annually, this trip not only provided the opportunity for children with disability to enjoy a day at the beach, but it also gave Rotarians and Rotaract members an opportunity to spend some quality time with less abled students. As in previous years, 2017 saw the Rotaract Club of Webster Cha Am and the Rotaract Club of Webster Bangkok Center join the event. Guests from the Regent Hotel participated as well – a perfect example of the relationships that volunteering creates with everyday people.

Webster Thailand Rotaract ClubChildren’s Outing is one of the most important days on the Webster calendar each year as it really helps students to understand the true meaning of community service. During Children’s Outing 2017, students clearly demonstrated that they have a significant desire to contribute to the betterment of their community – even though for many it’s not their native home. It is hoped that activities such as this provide the underpinnings for graduates to develop into successful global citizens.

In addition to the annual Children’s Outing, the Webster Rotaract Club is very active in its desire to contribute to the betterment of the community. Previous projects include English teaching at Thai elementary schools, blood donation drives and charity fundraising.
