To demonstrate the command of English for students whose first language is not English, students may be required to take an English proficiency test, such as TOEFL or IELTS test.
All students whose first language is not English, a TOEFL score of 550 (paper based)/80 TOEFL iBT or better or an IELTS score of 6.0 or better must be provided. Students who score less than the minimum TOEFL or IELTS will be required to start their undergraduate studies as ESL students to improve their English language skills.

Applicants from within Thailand
Webster Thailand arranges regular TOEFL exams (Institutional TOEFL tests) in order to facilitate students taking the TOEFL test. This works best for students who, for some reasons like unavailability of exam dates are not able to take the TOEFL tests at a TOEFL center. A prospective student is allowed to retest multiple times just like the regular TOEFL.
This institutional test is created and marked by the TOEFL board (ETS) and is accepted by all Webster campuses for admissions purposes. However, this test score may not be accepted by another American University.
Applicants from outside Thailand
Webster Thailand arranges the TOEFL exams (Institutional TOEFL tests) for overseas applicants at the beginning of every term. During admissions if you have indicated that you will give a TOEFL test upon your arrival and if you have been conditionally accepted into the Webster program then this test is the one you will be giving.
Generally, students with conditional acceptance are advised the TOEFL test dates during the admissions process. Your acceptance package will usually have the date. Students who take this test will be placed into the university courses as a regular student only upon receiving the required score. If students fail to get the TOEFL score then they need to take the ESL Program. Due to time constraints re-tests are usually not possible for overseas students who take the TOEFL on arrival.
If you are not sure about your English standing then we strongly advise you to take a TOEFL or an equivalent test prior to coming to Thailand. Please note that students who do not make a TOEFL score of at least 400 may be denied admissions into the ESL program.
