Transfer

Transfer to a Bright Future at Webster University!

If you are considering transferring, consider this: You’ll feel right at home at Webster!

Each year, hundreds of students transfer to Webster from colleges and universities around the globe.

Why? Because we make transferring easy.

We understand the needs of a transfer student - just like you; since more than half of our undergraduate students enter Webster as transfer students. We will do everything we can to help you make a smooth transfer to build upon the academic foundation you have already begun.

One way we make it easy is through the strong relationships we have built over the years with area community colleges. When you've completed a course at one of our partner schools, it will more than likely count towards finishing your bachelor's degree at Webster!

If you are not sure whether or not we will accept your credits earned at another institution, you may request a free estimated evaluation of your transfer credit and remaining requirements from the Office of Admission.

Transfer from Another Institute

Webster University accepts credits transferred from other accredited universities. Undergraduate students can transfer up to 98 credits (details see: Undergraduate: How to Apply), and graduate students can transfer up to 9 credits (details see: Graduate: How to Apply).

General Overview

One of the most attractive features of our university is the ability to transfer to our campuses in other international locations. At the current time, students from WUT can transfer to the following Webster campuses: St. Louis, London, Vienna, Leiden and Geneva.  In the near future, study abroad/site transfer will be available in China, Japan , Mexico

Transfer Eligibility Prerequisites

Each student must meet certain criteria before they are able to apply for a transfer. Please select your degree to find out which criteria you must fulfill.

Admission Policies for Transfer Students

When considering an application, Webster looks for evidence of potential for academic success. A cumulative GPA on all college level coursework of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale is preferred; however, each applicant is given individual consideration. If you have circumstances, which might affect your admission, they may be discussed confidentially with a member of the admissions staff. The University operates on rolling admission, and application files are reviewed by Admissions as soon as all requested credentials have been received.

Admissions Procedures

If you wish to enroll as a degree-seeking student, you must first apply for admission to the University. The application process requires you to submit to the Admissions Office the following credentials:

  • A completed application for undergraduate transfer admission.
  • A 300-400 word essay on the topic of your choice.
  • An official transcript mailed directly from each college, university or other post-secondary Institution attended showing all work attempted to date.
  • (If you have completed fewer than 30 credit hours, you must also submit a copy of your high school transcript or GED scores.)
  • Two recommendation letters
  • If you are not a native English speakers, please submit the score of your English proficiency such as TOEFL/IELTS (The university require TOEFL 550 PBT/213 CBT/80 iBT or IELTS 6.0)

All transfer coursework must be college-level (100-level or above) with a passing grade. Pass/Fail courses will count for transfer credit if the student received a Pass. Repeated courses – only the second grade will be counted. Incomplete grades are not accepted in transfer. Courses completed with a grade of D have severe transfer restrictions and generally are not applicable toward major or general education requirements. Transfer course equivalency requirements for the major are determined by the appropriate department. See departmental transfer guides for more specific information. Formal evaluation of transfer credit is conducted by the Office of the Registrar upon admission to the University. A free estimated evaluation may be requested by contacting the Admissions Office.

Advanced Standing Credits

Some international secondary credentials are eligible for Advanced Standing Transfer credit.

In recognition of the academic merit of specific international honors-level secondary external examinations, Webster University grants lower division advanced standing credit to enrolled students upon receipt of an official transcript of results obtained. Advanced standing transfer credit is evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and determined according to the guidelines of each academic department, to a maximum of 32 credits. Click here for more information regarding specific Advanced Standing Credits.
